About

John was born in 1930. In 1975, after a career in business, John decided to follow his first great love and enrolled at Putney School
of Art Adult Education Course to study sculpture. This was followed in 1980 by a full time course at Wimbledon School of Art,
from which he received his Fine Arts degree in sculpture.

Since then his versatile talent has led him to work in a variety of two dimensional and three dimensional media.
He has exhibited extensively and a considerable amount of his work is produced to commission.

John was selected to participate in the prestigious Camille Claudel International Annual Wood Sculpture Festival in 2002 at La Bresse
in France and has been invited to participate again. His piece 'Mother and Child' was the winner of the Prix du Peuple.

“My work is initiated and stimulated by visual images of natural forms, especially the human figure, animals, birds, bones,
pebbles and the beautiful contours of the South Downs”.

“I have carried out a wide variety of commissions: modelled and cast portrait heads, religious sculpture and animal carvings,
each providing a different and equally important reflection of the created world”

John has exhibited regularly over the past few years and his commissions can be seen in many public spaces,
most notably the 'Risen Christ' bronze at Keymer, East Sussex.
